Digital Mark up on Videos
Reviewing videos digitally is one of the great features you can gain from admation as an online mark up tool.
The mark up functionality for videos is quite similar to the process for still images and documents.
One key difference between videos and static images is that users need to take screenshots of the video file before annotating it. To review videos in admation, you will need to download our snapshot extension for your browser first, which will allow you to take those screenshots in the system.
Reviewing Videos in admation
To get started, click on your Approvals button to locate the video file that’s been sent to you. Click on it to access the Full Screen Approval view. Watch the video using the play button.
Once you have found a spot in the video that you would like to provide feedback on, pause the video file. Then click the Take Snapshot and Annotate button in admation. Once you have taken a screenshot of a video, you can annotate it.
Submit your feedback and comments on the still image as usual.
If you have multiple snapshots, they will be found at the bottom of your page. Hover over the screenshots to preview them, or click on them to bring them up. Each snapshot will show a time-stamp, reflecting when in the video you took your image.
Adding Annotations to Snapshots
To add your markups to a screenshot, select a markup tool from the bottom of the screen. Click and drag to draw a digital mark up across your screen. You'll see a sticky note where you can type in your feedback. Click Save once you are done.
If you need a refresher, here’s a handy guide on adding feedback and comments to still images in admation.
To continue watching the rest of the video, click the Review button and continue to Play your video. Remember to click Pause if you’d like to take snapshots for feedback purposes.
Reviewing Other User's Snapshots & Comments
If other stakeholders have also seen and taken snapshots of a video file, the user who took each snapshot will be named in the snapshot panel section. Each snapshot will also be ordered in timestamp order, so that any comments are listed logically.
The number of comments on a given snapshot will also show in yellow.
As with your own snapshots, you can click on other user’s snapshots to view their feedback. These are also located at the bottom of the page with their names. If other stakeholders have also provided feedback on a video file, you can view their comments in the side panel under Approval Info. This is found on the right hand side of your screen.
This feature is particularly handy to check that you aren’t sending conflicting feedback to the submitter.
Deleting a Snapshot
To delete a snapshot, hover over the snapshot you want to delete. All snapshots are found at the bottom of the approval page. Then click the Trash icon.
Adding an Overall Comment and Upload Files to a Video
You can provide an overall comment on the video by selecting the General Comments button.
Attach files
You can also click the Attach Files button if you want to include any supporting files or documents with your feedback.
Submit Your Feedback
Click the green Approve or red Changes button to submit your respective feedback for that video file.
