Tagging Users in Mark Up Comments

Directing markup to specific people

Tagging people in comments is a great way to share and request feedback from other team members when requesting changes or when you're needing clarification on an item or comment.

Tagging a user sends the tagged user an email notification about the comment you've made.

Tagged users will then be able to access that file and comment on it, even if they're not part of the approval trail (subject to your organisation's admation settings).

Tagging users is done before you approve or request changes.

In this way, you can log and document conversations in admation before you're ready to make a final decision. And the best part is that it’s as easy as adding an @ and the person’s name to a comment.

An Overview on Tagging

This is a really handy feature for people wishing to specifically alert other admation user(s) about their comments on a version of artwork.

People can be tagged as long as they are an active admation user in your organisation. When they are tagged, they will be able to see the artwork in the approval view with your comment(s). Depending on your organisation's settings, this is often true, even when:

  • they’re not in the Project Team;
  • their approval hasn’t been requested on this item (subject to your organisation's settings);

Tagging Other Users in a Comment

To tag another user in a comment, use the markup tools to create a new comment. To create your tag, type @ (Shift+2) in the text box provided, followed by the name of the person. Confirm your selection from the dropdown menu. Click Save

Your comment will be displayed on the side panel. The tagged user will receive an email notification and will be given access to the file so that they can respond to you directly.

As of admation 3.95, when you open up specific comments in admation from an email notification, we'll anchor down and highlight that specific comment for you, regardless of whether you're opening a multi-page document or a file with multiple screenshots.

Replying to Comments in an Approval

To reply to a comment that you've been tagged in, click the Reply link on the specific comment or comment thread. You can also hover over the artwork to locate the markup and then click Reply from there.

Type in your reply, then click Save.

In this way, you can start to keep track of the different conversations that happen around a piece of work, without ever leaving the system. Everything in admation is audited, so it helps to keep these conversations out in the open.

Tagging and reply functionality is also supported for General Comments too! When replying to an existing comment, the original thread creator is notified of any response, without needing to tag them in the comment again.
