Linking External Website Links to Projects

Linking External Website Links to Projects

We heard that clients often stored work documents online, and wanted to refer to them in admation, by using the share link. You can now link external website links (including Google Docs!) to projects by attaching them to the documents section of admation. For a given project, scroll down to the Documents section and click External Link.

From the resulting page, you can:

  • Give your external link a reference name for admation
  • Attach the link (or share link) to your project
  • Select a document type for your link
  • Limit access to the file using access controls
*Note that by default, everyone in your project will have access to the link. When you apply access controls, admation automatically removes access to anyone else not added on the access panel.
  • Go to the link to View Document

Click Done Editing when you're happy with your inputs. Then you'll have the option to View Document or then Save your changes.

From the resulting page, you'll find the link saved to your admation documents page with limited permissions.

Note that you won't have the option to control versions of your link, download your link or send it for approval.

For website links, you can click the down arrow on the online doc row to go to the stored link. Note that clicking the download button in the bulk actions bar will result in an error message for web links.

Making Edits to External Links

You can also click the i button to make edits to the details of your external website link. Click the Edit Pen Screen_Shot_2019-09-30_at_4.13.28_pm.png to make changes to the link details.

Note that to make direct edits to external links that are, say, stored in Google Drive, you will need to make the changes in the document directly.
