What is a WIP Note?
WIP notes – or Work in Progress notes – are short, post-like updates that can be added to a project to notify users about their status. Whilst admation does not notify users when a new WIP note has been added to a project, WIP notes are great for generating WIP reports and short conversations about general project progress. This guide will explain how to use WIP notes to your advantage in the platform.
Adding WIP Notes to an Existing Project
Once your project is underway, you may want to add a WIP note to notify the team about the project's progress. To do so, select your project from the Projects list. If you'd like to make this change for a deliverable, then click into the deliverable from the menu on the left side of your project.
Scroll down to the WIP Notes section of your project or deliverable and type in your update. There is no character or word limit on a WIP note, however, we suggest keeping these short and sweet.
Then select the WIP note type from the dropdown. WIP Note Types can be customised for your organisation. WIP Note types can be used to filter WIP Notes once you're ready to download WIP reports. Otherwise, they can be used for your own internal reference only.
Click Add WIP Note once you're happy with your inputs. You can also update users on a project's progress by updating the project's phase.
