Using Key Date Templates

Key Date Templates

Key date templates are most useful for those businesses with many custom key dates set up in the system. You can slice your project set up time in half by saving and loading templates across your key dates section of a project.

There are two ways to use custom key dates in a new project, and we'll briefly run through both of them below.

Saving Your Key Dates as a Template

This first option for using key dates is available to everyone in admation. When you create a project, you'll first need to fill in your key dates. Once these dates are filled in, you'll be able to save these dates as your first template.

To do so, click the Settings Icon Screen_Shot_2019-09-30_at_2.10.56_pm.png under key dates, and Save as Template. admation will then count the number of business days you've allocated between each date in this project, and will save those as a template for next time. As an idea, you may like to create separate templates for small, medium or large campaign types.

When you save key date inputs as a template, they can be viewed and used by anyone in your organisation, so be careful when saving (and particularly naming) your templates!

Loading Key Date Templates to a Project

Once you have a few templates saved within admation, you'll be able to load them as a template for next time. The great thing about these templates is that we can estimate your project dates when you enter either your start or finish date. It works both ways!

So if you know the ideal finish date for a project, enter that finish date in. When using the templates, admation will give you an approximate or ideal start date, if you want to meet that deadline. And on the flip side, if you know when you want your team to start, admation will tell you when, on average, you should be able to have it done by.

To start, fill in either your project's start date or end date. If you forget, we'll remind you.

Once you've entered either date, then click the Settings Icon Screen_Shot_2019-09-30_at_2.10.56_pm.png under key dates and Load From Template.

Select the template that you'd like to use using the Green Arrow Icon Screen_Shot_2019-09-30_at_2.04.23_pm.png, and admation will pre-fill the rest of your dates for you, whilst ignoring weekends and pre-configured public holidays by default.

Of course, if you need to edit these suggested dates, or if you are working on a weekend or public holiday, you can click on a given date and edit it accordingly.

What Else Can I do with Key Dates?

You can also follow these steps to use key date templates when editing your key dates in an existing project. And with certain permissions, you can also set up and edit key date templates in the admation admin.
